Shreyas Iyer had an eventful day on the field during the second day of India A vs India D’s Duleep Trophy Round 2 match on Friday taking a wicket in his very first ball in India A’s second innings while also getting dismissed for 0 earlier when it was his turn to wield the willow.
Earlier in the day, Iyer drew a lot of curious gazes when he opted to come to bat with a sunglasses on. He would last just 7 balls before being dismissed for 0 off a Khaleel Ahmed delivery.
The India D skipper would have the last laugh of Day 2 though when he dismissed India A’s Mayank Agarwal for 56 when he caught a followthrough off the latter’s bat to complete a low catch which signaled the end of the day’s play. This was Iyer’s 5th First-Class wicket and his first one since 2018-19.

In the match, Shams Mulani missed out on his maiden First-Class century as India D bundled out India A for 290 in their first-innings in the morning session. However, Shreyas Iyer’s men succumbed to a fine bowling performance as they conceded a 107-run first lead, saved partially by Devdutt Padikkal’s stroke-filled 92.
In the other match of the Duleep Trophy, India C put on a mammoth 572 on the board with valuable contributions from the lower-order. Abhimanyu Easwaran and N Jagadeesan then laid a fine counter-attack for India B as they put on over 120 runs before stumps.
